Well gang!
What an exciting year.. First the big #1 birthday and then our second plane trip to - you guessed it Florida - Marco Island to be exact. The trip started late... Later than expected with our plane delayed by over 2 hours. Bummer. Lucas was none to excited about that and frankly neither where we. We had expected to jump on the plane, Lucas would sleep for 3 hours and all would be wonderful. But, when we arrived to find our plane delayed, not even delayed as much as STILL in Florida - we were a little frazzled and so was the little guy. He found it to much, and could not sleep... so he was a bear to say the least.
It all was better once we boarded the plane and Lucas hit the hay! When we arrived we were so happy to walk into 80 degree weather (at 1 in the morning) - but still it was warm and hey - it was Florida!!
The first couple days were a cool 60 so we spent time exploring our new home, the island and the everglades. We got close and personal with some crocks, which we don't get the opportunity to do much here in Michigan. The rest of our week was warm and sunny and lots of fun. We spent our time hanging by the pool, eating good food, and visiting the beaches. It took Lucas about 3 or 4 days to warm up to the "Big Bathtub" aka the pool - but he finally took the plunge and LOVED it.
The Beach was awesome! We tried out two locations and had fun every time, although Lucas was terrified of the ocean. I guess we didn't realize that this really was such a new and interesting location for him. The sounds must have been just amazing to Lucas - so amazing in fact he would not even go near the water!!! So we stayed on the beach and ate sand which was much more fun and safe of course.
We spent our week with Grandma and Grandpa Schommer and they had already checked out the island and were able to show us around - as any seasoned Marco Islander would do. We even hit a rummage sale and fish fry at the local church!! Fun Fun.
Well, Hope you enjoy the pics and we wish you all a happy Easter!
P.s. - when thinking it is a good idea to wear flip flops home from sunny, warm Florida - think again! There may be six inches of snow on the ground when you get home! OUCH! Brrrr. Michigan you gotta love it!
Much Love.
