Well it has been a very busy month for the three of us!
Where to start!
Well Lucas is doing very well...he is now crawling and all over the place (time for those baby gates). The second he found he could crawl he wanted wanted to stand...So now he is not only zippin around the house but he is also pulling himself up on EVERYTHING. The crawling is one thing, but the standing is another... He does not have sure footing yet and is constantly on the verge of a wipe out, so I always have to be at arms length and with one eyeball on him. He also thinks that once he is up he can actually stand...So the little guy is always letting go of his perch and falling on his bum (will he ever learn??). With that said, we are seeing many bumps and bruises and giving him his daily boo boo kisses.
Our annual block party was this month. It was a really good time! It was funny to think that last year at this same time I was about 5 months pregnant and now we have our 7 month old babe. For any of you who do not know what a block party is...Here is the scoop.... We block off the street at both ends, put up some tents, make a dish to share, turn on some tunes and there you have it...block party! This year they even had the fire department bring over one of their fire trucks and two firemen to show off the truck and answer all of our questions. I was so excited when I heard that the truck was coming...I thought it would be so fun for Lucas and a great photo opp. (See below). Well, Lucas lost it...Maybe it was the truck, maybe it was all the people or maybe he was tired...whichever it was - he did NOT like it! So that was the end of the block party for Lucas. Luckily we had a babysitter for the rest of the night and Scott and I hung out with our neighbors until the rain drove us all home!
This month we also helped celebrate the marriage of Harmonie and Bryan (the bro). It was a beautiful outdoor reception with lots of friends, family and an unhappy pig (it was a pig roast you know)! Lucas enjoyed all the people who were involved the the game "pass the baby" - I know most of you are familiar with it! We had such a great time, but per our new life style we had to call it a night around 8pm. Lucas was all tuckered out from his long day in the fresh air. (but rumor has it the party went on until after 2am - woooo hooo... we know you all had a great time, wish we could have been there)
The Teeth: Lucas is also experiencing the pain of new teeth. We already have two on the bottom and this month I was convinced two more on the bottom were on their way in. WRONG - it is those two huge teeth right in the front (ouch). But that is not all...upon further inspection from his big uncle "G" there are actually 4 upper teeth coming in! All at the same time! poor guy. Poor mom, Poor dad, Bye bye sleep. Lucas was doing so well with sleeping...Now not so much. He is up (literally up) about ever 2 hours standing in his crib demanding attention. Oh my.
Speaking of uncle "G" he just left for college! Lucas is going to miss him! Hey, we all our going to miss him and we are hoping that he is having a wonderful and safe experience so far! There should be more news on that soon I am sure.
We also don't want to leave out our congrats to my very good friends Bill and Sara who welcomed their second daughter Sophia into the family! We were able to have a nice visit with them and they are doing very well.
Last but not least the West Coast Bellers were in town this week for a funeral. We were able to visit with them (not under the best circumstances) but we had a wonderful time! We spent one crazy night at the Mexican Fiesta! Two babies and a botona we'll call it! Whoo it was crazy. We are looking forward to little Jakes cousin arriving in October and praying that all goes well for mommy Maggie. Jake also looks forward to his little brother/sisiter arriving in March! It will be a full house then. The Bellers are always in our thoughts and we look forward to hearing about their happy and healthy pregnancy on their blog.
That is the scoop for month number 7 - we look forward to what the next months bring and can't wait to give you all the scoop. Keep checking in and give us a shout out when you can.
Love you all. Missing you all!
The Schommer Clan.
